SECRETS OF SUPER BRAIN YOGA

EPISODE III
SCIENCE BEHIND SUPERSTITIONS
WHY DO WE RENDER GOD SIT UPS HOLDING THE EARS CRISS CROSSED!
LEARN TO DO THE RIGHT WAY -
NOT NECESSARILY FOR GOD BUT AS A BEST EXERCISE!!

I am really surpised to note, how some of our foreign friends simply declare that they have innovated something without even trying to verify whether such things ever existed earlier with our ancestors. Sometimes it makes one to feel whether his ancestors did fail to do the marketing of some of our wonderful concepts which refines a human life.
We have heard people trying to claim IPR ( Intellectual Property Rights) on the active principal of certain plants like Turmeric, Neem , Garlic etc., which are known to our ancestors dacades before , unfortunately they failed to document publicly.

WHY DO WE RENDER GOD SIT UPS HOLDING THE EARS CRISS CROSSED!

Many such concepts can be to discussed;one such thing I would like to discuss here is about a so called SBY (Super Brain Yoga)
We have been doing this front of Sri Ganesha..a Hindu Elephant God. It is done as prayer or even as a punishment given by our teachers, when we were kids and had not performed well in studies! We had to stand outside the class and do sit ups holding the ears criss crossed …

We call it ‘thoppukaranam’ and we do it even today.
But Thoppukkaranam is not a  punishment. It is a system of acupressure that energises the brain and keeps the person who practices it, mentally alert and physically active.
At a discussion on the pressure points in the ear,  Dr. M.N. Sankar, an acupuncture specialist  at the International Auricular Therapy Convention at Shanghai in China in 1999 did the Thoppukaranam and the audience followed after him. “Splendid, the organiser said” and asked him who taught him this.
He explaind that crisscrossing the hands to knock gently on the temples is a means of activating the right brain and the left brain and energising the pineal and pituitary glands – the master glands of the bodywhich leads to mental alertness and physical fitness at one go. In fact, Thoppukaranam has now been included in one of the chapters on Auricular Therapy.

It is amazing to note that our ancestors knew that the activity of our brain has criss cross control over our sense organs and as we know today that our right eye is well connected by nerves to the left side of the brain and vice versa.
A practice performed by us from time immemorial is now being researched and enthusiastically promoted in the West as “Super Brain Yoga.”
Students, Alzheimers patients and adults trying to stave off memory loss are saying it has improved their mental faculties.

Yale neurobiology researcher Dr. Eugenius Yang, Jr. says the practice stimulates neural pathways in the brain by activating acupuncture points on the earlobes–and synchronizes the right and left hemispheres of the brain, as demonstrated by EEG (electroencephalograph) scans. “I do it every day,” he says.

Denise Peak, a high-school teacher of students with learning disabilities, including autism and Aspergers Syndrome, has had very encouraging results. She says, “I think this might be the key to help unlock these children.”

Occupational therapist Raina Koturba says the effect on one autistic seven-year-old boy was immediate and dramatic. Before learning the exercise, the boy had frequent episodes of violence, including kicking, biting, punching, and head-butting; “but since he started the exercise, he has not had one outburst.”

Dr. Eric Robins, a medical doctor in Los Angeles, calls it “a fast, simple, drug-free method of increasing mental energy” and prescribes it for his patients. He speaks of one student who raised his grades from C’s to A’s in the space of one semester.

Are we not proud of our ancestors ?

LEARN TO DO THE RIGHT WAY!

But  remember :
Of late , we never do the exercise as practised by our ancestors.
To day , it is done not even half the way and we should inculcate the importance into the minds of our children, NOT NECESSARILY FOR GOD BUT AS A BEST EXERCISE.

we may do  this when we are young , can  be continued as we grow systematicaly to balance memory and avoid joint pains. But-
One should not practice seriouly all of a sudden and not to forget  that it is not advisable for very elderally people / People with servere joint pain or Obesity.
Remember our each knee joint bears every day 400 % of our body weight and while doing the same we should not project unknowingly our stomach to avoid  distended belly.
