PILGRIMAGE LEADS TO PREGNANCY

EPISODE VIII

SCIENCE BEHIND SUPERSTITIONS
WILL PILGRIMAGE LEADS TO PREGNANCY ?

Our Ancestors told the couple to leave home and go on pilgrimage to  different places which are famous for prayers and divine powers and advised them to spend some time there and come back home , when they felt that there is something wrong in the conception and when the couple could not give birth to a baby.
It is really surprising that they could judge the reasons for infertility and knew at that time that avoiding certain  circumstances  should significantly improve the likelihood of conception by decreasing attrition to the active genes controlling reproductive processes.
Apart from the biological factors there are 40% of causes  for infertility problems are due to unknown reasons.
There are certain major contributing factors :
1. Biological problems with organic defects/disorders
(ex. Tubal Problems, Ovulation Disorders ,Uterine Tissue Endometriosis )
2. Geographical  environment
(Excessive or insufficient availability of certain minerals or vitamins
in food ,water & breathable air)
3. Live Style ( Smoking, Occupations, Stress, Obesity)

While the first factor warrants intervention of a specialist in gynecology, the other two factors need to be analyzed.
If the couple can avoid the cause or get the required one for conception certainly the path to such joy is not far away.
Let us analyze:
Folic acid helps with the body's production of genetic material. so, not only does it help to prevent spinal birth defects, it also helps the body produce quality eggs and sperm.
Vitamin E is probably one of the best vitamins that a woman can take for fertility reasons. E is not only an antioxidant, but a study conducted by JOHNS HOPKINS showed that women who took 800iu (international units) daily for two and a half months had their estrogen and progesterone levels come into balance, their libido increased, and their menstrual cycles became normal.
Zinc helps with the production of proteins and is a component of most of the body's enzymes. it is possible that men with low sperm counts can take 'extra' zinc to help their body develop and produce more sperm cells. zinc helps to balance a man's testosterone levels and the hormones that signals sperm production. Men should not take more than 25 mg daily, but it is always best if zinc is consumed through the diet. foods rich in zinc include meats, fish, dairy, and grains, but most foods contains some amount of zinc.
For men and Women, foods that are rich in vitamin c and zinc have beneficial effect on sperm count and fertility rate.

“20% OF ALL CASES WHERE THE MALE IS THE ONLY CONTRIBUTORY FACTOR TO INFERTILITY CAN BE CORRECTED BY LIFESTYLE “
Dr. WOLFRAM NOTTEN  UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN

“MISCARRIAGE RATES HIGHER NEAR AGRICULTURE ACTIVITIES. MOTHERS WHO LIVED NEAR CROPS WHERE CERTAIN  PESTICIDES WERE SPRAYED FACED 40% TO 120%  INCREASE IN RISK OF MISCARRIAGE “
Dr. ERIN BELL  IN EPIDEMIOLOGY MARCH 2001 EDITION

Consuming well water contaminated with high levels nitrates, chemicals or bacteria is particularly dangerous for pregnant women can cause miscarriages in some women. It has been proved chemicals of pesticides like nitrites in food and well water, and chlordane in breathable air are potent inhibitors of fertility.
Today’s  science proves that there is an increased risk of delay to conception following male exposures to textile dyes, Polymer & Plastics  manufacturing, welding, continuous driving, and those who handle antibiotics.
Our Ancestors thought that if  the couple leaves the home , first they get out stress ( to get more privacy at times when joint family system was existing –all the family members were living together) and , subsequently when they are exposed to different geographical area  where they avoid creating auto immune antibodies against certain chemicals that attack either the sperm or the egg.

Our Ancestors  would have also felt that certain occupational environments need a break to get conceived.
Further they  thought pilgrimage , the tour to God places would get  the positive factors like necessary vitamins and minerals which are unavailable locally and that are the most important in terms of fertility and preconception , apart from  inculcate some discipline so to avoid the negative factors like  smoking and consuming alcohol - as smokers sperm count is 15% lower than non smokers / have more abnormal sperms and alcohol consumption reduces 50% conception.

And no one can deny  that  Obesity and excess fat may also cause infertility by blocking the reproductive tract which  can be managed by body fitness and having balanced diet - more protein and less fat.During pilgrimage the excess calorie is also burnt out while walking and claiming steps to reach the holy places and avoiding non vegetarian diet, the chance of eliminating this factor can’t be also ignored.

ARE THEY NOT REALLY GREAT?
